Sardine Factory
701 Wave St
Sociedad la Aurora Hall Site
The Sardine Factory, flagship restaurant of Cannery Row, etches Cannery Row history into its patrons' awareness with a collection
of canning era photographs in the Steinbeck Room. Rebuilt in 1968 after a fire, Aurora Hall had been Monterey's Portuguese
social hall, the first YMCA in the 1920s, a cafeteria for cannery workers, a gymnasium, a boxing ring, and Patricia Wester's
School of Dance into the 60s. In its more recent history the Sardine Factory was the location for scenes from Clint Eastwood's
Play Misty for Me.
In the spirit and tradition of Cannery Row, this seafood specialty restaurant wears its heritage well and invites visitors
to enjoy the best of Cannery Row's present above a street made famous for its past.
